Albufeira

First it’s the sea and the famous beaches and then many shades of rocks and cliffs. This town is a tourist resort where tourists tan during the day and restaurants, bars and discos that give a special shine to nightlife in the Algarve start filling up at sunset. 


But only a few kilometres inland, everything changes. Almond trees, fig trees, pine trees and orange trees are scattered over the countryside in shades of green lace-like chimneys stand out from the red ochre roofs and towns invite people to discover a Natural quiet life in the country.


Albufeira mainly consists of a mixture of new and old sections that merge into a vast holiday suburb that stretches Eastwards along the coast to Balaia, Olhos d’Água and Falésia and westwards to São Rafael, Galé and the Salgados golf course.


This whole region is also known as greater Albufeira and is the largest tourist centre in the Algarve. It is actually very different to real Portugal or, in this context, the planet Earth, but attracts crowds of people who spend the best holidays of their lives in Albufeira.
